The 2011-12 school year is my seventh at SAS, which makes this the longest I have worked at a single school. I have been teaching HS for over twenty years now, starting as a Peace Corps volunteer in the West African country of Mali from 1987-89. I have also worked in US public schools in New York City, San Francisco, and San Mateo, CA. Prior to coming to SAS, I worked for two years at the American School of the Hague in the Netherlands.
From November 2005 through July 2011, I also served as the IB Diploma Program Coordinator for this campus, leading the program from its initial authorization and implementation, through our first 5-year program review last year. I consider it a great professional privilege to have been the IB Coordinator here during this period, though I am very happy and excited to be returning this year to full-time mathematics teaching.
This portfolio contains evidence and reflections pertaining to the SAS standards and benchmarks for professional evaluation. Like all such portfolios, it is a work in progress, but I do hope that it conveys a sense of my professional values, beliefs, and goals.
